Petru Cruceru
Petru Cruceru (b. 1997) graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2023. His artistic practice revolves around personal memory, transformed into emotionally charged and vulnerable visual expressions.
His works are not merely reconstructions of the past, but intimate gestures through which the artist explores the emotional threads connecting lived experiences and the traces they leave over time. Petru confronts his memories through a process that involves discomfort and uncertainty, yet also carries a sense of release.
This visual mapping of trauma does not aim to reaffirm suffering, but to create a space for reflection and recalibration – an effort to understand, reinterpret, and transform what remains unhealed.
